Dear Reader,
I am glad that you found a moment to read this letter. In my „real“ life I work as a criminal judge at the district court in Hannover, just like Barbara Salesch-but blond...It is an interesting work which also shows me, how sad life turns out to be for some of our fellow citizens:
Paul lives on the street and does not have a proper pair of shoes.
Emine lives on the food that comes out of a garbage can which results in a skin eruption.
And Micha is a 12-year- old boy whom you can find near the heater near Karstadt, because his father beats him black and blue.
There are many good organizations that could help them, but they do not reach such people like Paul, Emine and Micha anymore. Many of those people living on the street don't even know where to get help from or cannot accept it- without any pair of shoes Paul doesn't want to go to an office, Emine hardly speaks German and Micha doesn't trust anyone.
I don't want to give those people up who don't have anything or anyone that's why my friends and I founded an association. We want to go directly to the streets to provide assistance on the ground: distribute the necessary clothes, warm blankets in winter, healthy food but first of all we want to talk to people and offer help (either our help or someone else's). There is a lot we can do.
Because I am teaching at a college of higher education I would like to accomplish this work with my students. On the one hand I hope to support Paul, Emine and many more but on the other hand I want the students to see what life can be like. I often hear students complaining about getting a golf instead of a BMW from their parents as a reward for their high school diploma. A few days on the street without money and home (as a requirement for the grade) would teach them some humility. The students of today are the leaders of tomorrow and if the result is more respect for others then a lot has been achieved.
We are a registered nonprofit association. We are a small association and we want to offer help that really goes to those in need. We compete with big institution which have a completely different approach.
That is why I address myself to you! Just now at the initial stage we urgently need every help and every euro we can get. We do everything on our own in our spare time or during the holidays and we live exclusively on donation.
If you want to help those who are „at the bottom“ of our society without any bureaucracy, we would be glad about a small donation. Every euro counts and we will be glad to send you a contribution receipt.
If you have time do not hesitate to visit me at the district court or accompany us at work...
I wish you a pleasant week and laughter every day. Life is wonderful!
